Jason is also an experienced writer and reviewer of business processes. He has successfully performed data migration and analysis projects and has an in depth knowledge of industry regulations.

Jason has a detailed knowledge of the MRA rules and the DTC flows required to operate in the competitive electricity market along with detailed knowledge of UK-link and RGMA file flows in the retail Gas market, gained through his experience at Inexus.

SAP UK and Germany

 

Working for SAP UK in both the UK and German head office on a large bespoke system development, Jason was part of an IDEX team which was responsible for the full end to end process mapping of all electricity and gas de-regulated business processes in the UK utilities industry.

Jason’s role involved capturing detailed business requirements across both gas and electricity by holding a number of workshops and meeting with business users and key stakeholders. Jason then transformed the requirements into detailed system requirements specification. The solution is a best of breed implementation of SAP ISU and CRM 7.0 web client.

EDF Energy ( 2008 – 2009)

 

As the delivery manager of the BBC project (Buy Bill Collect) Jason worked on two main areas of the project ensuring a project milestones and deadlines were meet within the agreed quality frame work and budget:

Gas Revenue Completeness Project

  • Analyze current work practices and tools available to the business.
  • Requirements gathering for process and system improvements.
  • Producing business requirement specification to optimize the companies ability to gather outstanding revenue from the imbalances between what energy had been purchased against what had been billed.
  • Design/test/implement and train the new IT solution.

 

Gas Route cause project – Delivery Manager (lead of 6 business analyst)

Eon (Jan 2007 – Jan 2008)

 

As a business analyst at Eon, Jason was working on their Purchase Versus Sales project where he investigated and identified imbalances between the energy which was purchased through settlements and that sold on to the end consumer over a specified time period. This role involved documentation, analysis and process improvement. An example of the key activities undertaken are listed below:-

  • Creation of new screens within the billing system
  • Production of documentation for the new screens
  • Design of screen enhancements (including functional and visual)
  • Root cause analysis of accounts within the project
  • Involvement in the initiation of the project
  • Design of business processes from account investigation through to correction
  • Business process review and enhancements for all internal and external processes such as, meter exchanges/Isolations, asset mismatches and settlement validation
  • Design, analysis, testing, implementation and creation of all documentation for Management Information reports
  • Design, analysis, testing, implementation and creation of all documentation for Operational reports
  • Consulting with the business on issues and queries 
  • Root cause analysis on bulk accounts to find patterns in the data

Elexon Project (May 2006 – October 2006)

 

In this role Jason was responsible for testing the Large EACAA software as part of the CSDA Project. This project was a migration of ELEXON's software from SQL Server 6.5 and 2000 to SQL Server 2005. This involved creating the Factory Acceptance Test Specification, writing the test scripts, creating the test data and also the expected results. Jason then ran the tests and reported any issues using MANTIS as issue tracking software and at the end created a FAT Report detailing the testing undertaken.

npower (Dec 2005 – March 2006)

 

As a business analyst at Npower, Jason was tasked with reviewing their current business requirement specification for their pending AQ review system. The AQ review process has the potential to save or cost supplier companies millions. As a result of this and other analysis he carried out he produced a recommendations paper along with a resource and timeline requirement plan for an enduring AQ review process.

 

2001 - 2005

Inexus – Various roles

 

During his time at Inexus, he performed a variety of interesting and challenging roles in connection with the companies that make up the Inexus Group. These companies include:

  • Connect Utilities Ltd (Connect)
  • Independent Pipelines (IPL)
  • Quadrant Pipelines Ltd (QPL)
  • Independent Power Networks Ltd (IPNL)
  • Independent Meters Ltd (IML)
  • Contract Manager for both the Gas Transportation and the Electricity distribution companies within the group. This required an in depth knowledge of the current market and any proposed change that would effect the company. Jason has been a representative on a number of high profile committees and working groups including the MRA development board (MDB) and the Customer Transfer Programme.
  • Change Manager, responsible for all change controlled documents and ensuring the documents meet industry requirements.
  • Assisted the company to become the first ever Independent distribution company to enter the UK market. Wrote a number of business user processes which were required for both Elexon and Mrasco accreditation to meet industry requirements and ensure that the companies inter operations were robust.
  • Lead tester for market entry testing with Elexon and Mrasco.
  • MPAS manager and was responsible for the operation of the MPAS system which involved monitoring all DTC flows sent to and from the distribution business. Analysing any rejected flows to establish the cause and advising the sender of the problems. In charge of data integrity within the MPAS system, he was required to extract any data anomalies and then undertake any corrective action to ensure the data within the system was consistent with the values contain within Market Domain Data and were consistent to the values defined in the DTC.
  • Designing and implementing of a variety of Microsoft Access & Excel databases to help improve business processes and monitor inter-operability issues.
